Manyoni. The NMB Bank
Plc has opened a branch at Mitundu, Itigi in Manyoni as it brings its services
closer to the people.
This brings the total
number of NMB’s outlets across the country to 216, according to the bank’s head
of Personal Banking, Mr Omari Mtiga.
NMB’s Mitundu branch
is designed to serve residents of Kalangali, Mgandu, Rungwa, Mwamagembe,
Mitundu and other locations close to the area.
Gracing the branch opening
event, the acting district commissioner for Manyoni, Mr Miraji Mtaturu, said
the presence of the outlet will revive residents in the areas of the burden of
travelling for 70 kilometres all the way to Itigi in need of banking services.
“The opening of a
branch here means that even the thugs who have been troubling residents as they
go for banking services from here to Itigi will now be forced for find other
jobs,” he said.
The branch, according
to Mr Mtiga, will issue all services including account opening, loan issuance
and cash withdrawals among others. Group loans, targeting small scale business
operators will also be issued at the branch.
These loans will be
issued through NMB Plc’s FANIKIWA Account which is specifically meant to cater
to the needs of micro and small businesses.
“I urge you to get
loans and grow your businesses. Do not take loans and spend the money on
marrying more wives,’ said Mr Mtaturu.
