Bank M Tanzania, for the second year in a row, has come on board as the main sponsor of the now prestigious Tanzania Top 100 Mid-Sized Companies Survey an initiative of KPMG and Mwananchi Communications Ltd (MCL)
This was announced during the official launch of the Tanzania Top 100 Mid-sized company survey for the year 2015/2016, an event held at Hyatt Regency – The Kilimanjaro Hotel in Dar es Salaam recently.
The survey celebrates business success among the country’s Mid-Sized Companies as well as entrepreneurs for contributing to the employment generation and growth of the Tanzanian economy in general.
Speaking during the event, KPMG’s Partner, Ketan Shah said they were very much impressed with the growing number of participants and this year they have decided to open the door early to allow mere more companies to participate. “Last year we had a total of 310 entrants, a number far bigger than the previous years and we expect the number to grow significantly this time” he added that “we have decided to launch this survey this early to allow ample time for the participants to apply as well as enough time to properly process the applications”
The MCL Managing Director, Francis Nanai, stated that the organizers have planned to reveal this year’s TOP 100 winners in the second week of August instead of last week of October as was done in previous years. He added that this will give adequate time for the winners to celebrate their victory and leverage on their success before the festive season. Further, Mr. Nanai, called for more participation from upcountry, encouraging companies from regions other than the big cities of Mwanza and Arusha to step in and compete, because he believes there are so many mid – sized companies performing very well in those regions.
Regarding the sponsorship from Bank M, the promoters of the Top 100 survey said they are delighted to have bank M on board again for the second year in a row and with bank M’s commitment they expect this year’s survey to be more successful. Mr. Nanai thanked Bank M for their continued support of the survey. Mr. Nanai added “This shows that the bank trusts the whole process and it is dedicated to support the mid-sized companies in the country”.
Commenting on their participation in this year’s survey, Bank M’s Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Jacqueline Woiso remarked, “We have once again joined hands with KPMG and MCL in this project with the aim of supporting the growth of mid-sized corporates in the country.” Our bank recognizes the instrumental role played by the mid-sized companies in promoting the growth of our economy and us being among the key players in the financial services industry we thought it is important to support this survey as a way of promoting business in our country.”
Jacqueline said since its inception in the Tanzania market about eight years ago, Bank M has always been working hand in hand with reputable organizations in different reputable projects and that joining hands with KPMG and MCL in this survey is the continuation of their strategy of bringing about significant economic advancement in the country.
This year’s survey is expected to end in mid-July and the winners will be announced during an event expected to take place in 14th of August this year in Dar es Salaam.
Other sponsors, who have joined hands with KPMG and MCL, in this year’s survey include Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE), Azam Media and Kuza Biashara.
