Mr. Kiwanga has extensive management experience and knowledge of the civil society sector - after having served as the Executive Director of a leading human rights organisation, the Legal & Human Rights Centre (LHRC) between 2008 and 2011. He also served as the Managing Director of Matrix Consulting, the legal and corporate governance consulting firm based in Arusha, prior to joining the FCS. Mr. Kiwanga has also been a facilitator and trainer on various human rights topics, accountability systems, and good governance to civil servants, Members of Parliament and managers of Civil Society Organisations both in Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar. He will assume his new position at the Foundation on 02 March 2015.
The appointment of Mr. Kiwanga follows the completion of Mr. John Ulanga’s tenure of leadership who requested the Board to let him pursue his future career objectives.
“It is a great responsibility to lead the FCS and I have proudly accepted. I am also humble to this task, aspiring to cooperate with all stakeholders,” said Kiwanga who is also an advocate of the High Court, with a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Dar es Salaam and a Master of Business Administration from the Eastern and Southern African Management Institute (ESAMI) in Arusha.
