USE AIR SEYCHELLES' DAR - MAHE FLIGHTS FOR BUSINESS: MINISTER

Passengers arrive at Dar es Salaam’s Julius Nyerere International Airport via Air Seychelles’ maiden flight between Tanzania’s commercial capital and Mahe yesterday.

Dar es Salaam. Air Seychelles started flying between Dar es Salaam and the Indian Ocean archipelago yesterday, a move meant to offer more options to tourists visiting the two countries.
The Mahé-based air operator is deploying its 136-seater Airbus A320 between the two destinations.
Speaking in Dar es Salaam yesterday, deputy Transport minister Charles Tizeba called upon members of the business community to grab opportunities that come with the existence of a fast and reliable transport between Tanzania and Seychelles.
“Noting the importance of air transport in the economic development of our two countries, the two states are urged to implement national, regional and continent wide strategies on air transport in order to contribute to economic development of our countries,” he said. According to Air Seychelles’ general manager for corporate affairs, Alan Renaud, apart from boosting tourism and commerce between the two countries, the new route would also increase the demand for Tanzania’s international network.
“Dar es Salaam is a great addition to our network and represents a new growth phase for our airline. With a population of over four million people and great connections to popular game parks and tourism attractions, such as snow-capped Kilimanjaro Tanzania’s commercial capital is well positioned to stimulate tourism and commercial activities and both ends,” said Renaud.
