Equity Bank Tanzania has officially launched Zanzibar Supreme, a dedicated Equity Bank service centre designed to provide an elevated financial experience, business advisory support and relationship-led customer service. The centre is located at Kijangwani, Mjini Magharibi, Zanzibar. This marks an important step in the Bank's strategy to strengthen financial services, expand financial inclusion and support inclusive economic growth in Zanzibar. The launch of Zanzibar Supreme brings Equity Bank Tanzania's presence to two branches in Zanzibar, demonstrating the Bank's confidence in Zanzibar's economic growth potential and its continued commitment to serving residents, businesses, institutions and investors more closely. The official launch was officiated by Hon. Dr. Hamad Omar Bakar, Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning, who was the Guest of Honour.
Zanzibar Supreme has been established to serve high-value customers, medium and large entrepreneurs, corporates, the hotel sector, investors and other key stakeholders through high-level banking services that are tailored to customer needs and anchored on a close relationship between the Bank and its customers.
Speaking during the launch event, Equity Bank Tanzania Managing Director, Ms. Isabela Maganga, said the opening of the centre forms part of the Bank's broader strategy to invest in banking services that respond to key economic sectors and increase access to formal financial services.
“The launch of Zanzibar Supreme is an important milestone in our journey to continue bringing financial services closer to our customers. Through this centre, we aim to provide banking services that meet the needs of individuals, medium and large businesses, corporates, investors and the hotel sector, which is one of the key pillars of Zanzibar’s economy,” said Ms. Maganga.
She added that Equity Bank Tanzania will continue investing in customer service infrastructure, digital banking services and financial solutions that support business growth, investment, access to capital and long-term financial empowerment.
“We believe financial institutions have an important role to play in supporting economic development by providing services that enable people and businesses to participate fully in the formal economy. This centre is part of our commitment to supporting Zanzibar’s growth through quality, reliable and customer-focused services,” she added.
The launch also aligns with efforts of the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar, through the Ministry of Finance and Planning, to advance sustainable social and economic development, increase the participation of citizens and the private sector in the economy, and enable positive transformation in the financial and business sectors in 2026 and beyond.
Zanzibar Supreme will provide a wide range of banking services, including account opening, credit facilities, business banking services, international financial services, digital banking solutions, financial advisory services and dedicated services for customers who require closer attention and enhanced financial solutions. The launch event brought together Government leaders, leaders of various institutions, hotel owners and executives, medium and large business owners, investors, strategic customers and other key stakeholders from Zanzibar.
With the opening of Zanzibar Supreme, Equity Bank Tanzania now has a total of 19 branches across the country, further strengthening its presence and improving access to financial services in key commercial and economic growth locations. The Bank's branch network includes Head Office / Golden Branch, Golden Supreme, Quality Centre, Kariakoo, Mwenge, Ubungo, Mbagala, Temeke and Nyerere in Dar es Salaam, as well as branches in Arusha, Mwanza, Dodoma, Moshi, Mbeya, Morogoro, Geita, Kahama and Zanzibar, including the newly launched Zanzibar Supreme.
