EQUITY BANK APPOINTS FAUZIA MALIK AND ANGELICA TARIMO AS NON EXECUTIVE DIRECTORS

Dar es Salaam, 12 March 2026 – Equity Bank Tanzania has announced the appointment of Fauzia Malik and Angelica Tarimo as Non-Executive Directors to its Board, strengthening the bank’s governance and strategic leadership as it continues to expand its role in Tanzania’s financial sector.

The appointments bring together deep expertise in entrepreneurship, taxation, governance, and corporate strategy, reinforcing the bank’s commitment to sustainable growth and financial inclusion.


Fauzia Malik Joins the Board

Fauzia Malik is a seasoned entrepreneur and strategic business leader based in Tanzania, widely recognized for building and scaling successful enterprises across multiple sectors including manufacturing, consumer goods, wellness, and services.

She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science with a minor in Business Administration from Barat College of DePaul University in the United States.

Malik currently serves as Managing Director of Tembo Tiles Limited and Chief Executive Officer of Super Meals Limited (Cool Blue). She is also the Founder and Director of Baby Tembo Limited, demonstrating her strong entrepreneurial track record.

Beyond her corporate leadership roles, Malik is an active member of the Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO) Tanzania, where she has held leadership positions including Chapter President and Membership Chair. She also participates in the CEO Roundtable of Tanzania, contributing to national business dialogue and mentorship.

Her leadership style—marked by strong operational discipline and the ability to translate strategy into results—has earned her recognition within the regional business community.


Angelica Tarimo Brings Governance and Tax Expertise

Angelica Tarimo joins the Board with more than 20 years of experience in taxation, governance, and regulatory advisory across Tanzania and the wider region.

She holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Eastern and Southern Africa Institute of Management (ESAMI) and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Dar es Salaam.

Tarimo is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), and a registered tax consultant.

She currently serves as Partner and Head of Tax at Claritas International, where she leads the firm’s tax practice and advises clients on direct and indirect taxation, international tax structuring, corporate transactions, and dispute resolution.

Her previous professional experience includes senior roles at global advisory firms PwC and Deloitte.

Tarimo also sits on the board of the National Insurance Corporation of Tanzania, where she chairs the Risk and Governance Committee, and has previously served on committees of the National Board of Accountants and Auditors (NBAA).


Strengthening Governance and Diversity
