Tanzanian logistics firm Xerin Group has officially launched a dedicated air cargo charter service between Dar es Salaam and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), marking a significant milestone in the country’s cross-border trade and logistics sector.
The game-changing initiative, which utilises a Boeing 737-800 aircraft with a cargo capacity of 20 tonnes per trip, is expected to revolutionize how goods move between East and Central Africa and the Gulf region.
“This new route marks a major transformation in the regional logistics sector, providing efficient, secure and timely solutions for cargo movement,” said Hussein Jamal, Managing Director of Xerin Group, during the official launch.
Boosting Trade and Regional Integration
Jamal emphasized that the new air cargo service is more than a business expansion—it's a strategic investment that will strengthen economic collaboration between Tanzania and the UAE, positioning Dar es Salaam as a vital logistics hub in the region.
“By optimising trade corridors and reducing turnaround times, the service will not only boost commercial activity but also support broader regional economic integration,” he added.
A Proud Tanzanian Achievement
Xerin Group is now the first Tanzanian-owned logistics company to launch a dedicated air cargo route of this scale.
“We are proud to be the first Tanzanian-owned company to offer this solution on such a level,” noted Jamal.
The initiative has been supported by several key regulatory and logistics bodies, including the Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA), Tanzania Airports Authority (TAA), and the Tanzania Customs Authority (TCA), whose involvement Jamal credited as instrumental to the project's success.
Responding to Market Demand
With trade volumes between Tanzania and the UAE steadily increasing, the demand for a reliable and time-efficient cargo transport solution has never been greater.
The new route is expected to serve as a lifeline for regional traders and manufacturers, offering faster turnaround times, enhanced cargo security, and seamless connectivity with one of the world's busiest trade hubs—the UAE.
Future-Focused Logistics
Since its establishment in 2019, Xerin Group has made impressive strides in East Africa’s logistics landscape. The firm offers comprehensive multimodal transport services, a growing regional network, and now, a strategic direct air cargo connection between Tanzania and the Middle East.
“We are committed to offering forward-thinking, locally relevant logistics solutions that contribute to the growth of intra-regional and international trade,” Jamal concluded.
As the service officially takes off, Tanzanian traders, East and Central African businesses, and UAE-based partners are invited to leverage this new cargo route as a catalyst for growth and stronger commercial ties.
