DSE AND TANZANIA STARTUP ASSOCIATION LAUNCH PARTNERSHIP TO EMPOWER STARTUPS

BY OUR CORRESPONDENT – DAR ES SALAAM
June 24, 2025

In a bold move to strengthen innovation and entrepreneurship in Tanzania, the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Tanzania Startup Association. The partnership aims to expand access to knowledge, capital, and support for startups across the country.

Speaking at the official signing ceremony held at the DSE offices, the Chief Executive Officer of DSE, Peter Nalitolela highlighted the importance of this collaboration in driving inclusive economic growth through innovation.

“Today marks a historic moment as two institutions committed to economic and innovation development come together with a common goal: to support and nurture startup founders and innovators in Tanzania,” he said.

Purpose of the Partnership

The MoU sets the stage for a strong and strategic collaboration focused on:

  • Providing startups with knowledge about capital markets;
  • Enhancing their ability to access capital through platforms like the Enterprise Growth Market (EGM);
  • Creating an enabling environment for innovation and sustainable business growth;
  • Partnering on training, seminars, and financial literacy campaigns.

“Together, we are building a bridge between the capital markets and the innovation ecosystem,” he emphasized.

Why Startups Matter

Startups are powerful engines of economic transformation. They drive job creation, introduce cutting-edge technologies, and offer innovative solutions to social challenges. DSE’s EGM already offers a platform for early-stage businesses to grow in a structured and sustainable way.

This partnership ensures that Tanzanian startups don’t grow in the dark—but with the light of mentorship, knowledge, and access to funding opportunities.

DSE’s Commitment

“At DSE, we believe that capital markets are for everyone—not just large corporations,” said Mr. Nalitolela.

This partnership expands investment access to youth, innovators, and small business owners, positioning DSE as a true development partner for the startup ecosystem.

Appreciation and Call to Action

In closing, Mr. Nalitolela extended heartfelt congratulations to the leadership of Tanzania Startup Association for their vision and collaborative spirit.

“Together, we are writing a new chapter of hope for the next generation of Tanzanian entrepreneurs. This partnership is not just on paper—it begins today in action.”

The event concluded with the official signing of the MoU, opening the door to long-term cooperation between the two institutions.
