Children born with various health challenges at Muhimbili National Hospital have every reason to find relief, thanks to a donation of medical equipment and essential supplies by female employees of Absa Bank Tanzania. The donation aims to support premature babies and improve their chances of survival.
Speaking while receiving the donation, Head of the Neonatal Unit at the hospital, Dr. Martha Mkony, expressed her gratitude to employees who visited the hospital as part of International Women’s Day celebrations. She emphasized that the donation had arrived at the right time and would significantly contribute to the care of newborns admitted to the facility daily.
“I would like to sincerely thank the female employees of Absa Bank, particularly your group known as ‘Red Skirts,’ for this noble gesture, we see this as the beginning of a long-term relationship between the Muhimbili National Hospital’s Neonatal Unit and Absa Bank, and we promise to collaborate in ensuring the well-being of these newborns,” said Dr. Martha.
While handing over the donation, Absa Bank Tanzania’s Human Resources Manager, Ms. Martha Chacha, highlighted the bank’s commitment to recognizing women’s contribution to national development and addressing the challenges they face. She noted that, through their ‘Red Skirts’ initiative, Absa Bank Tanzania’s female employees had also extended support to fistula patients at CCBRT Hospital, in addition to the neonatal unit at Muhimbili.
“On behalf of my fellow women, as we commemorate International Women’s Day, we are here today representing our bank to offer this support, Absa Bank deeply values the stories of Tanzanian women, their health and economic success stories matter greatly to us,” added Ms. Anna.
