Dar es Salaam, 6 August 2024: In line with supporting efforts initiated by the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, H.E Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan in ensuring that all Tanzanians must have health insurance, Britam Insurance Tanzania announced the launch of its two new medical insurance covers, dubbed ‘Afya Care’ and ‘Amani Health’, designed to provide comprehensive and affordable health coverage for individuals, families, and businesses.

‘Afya Care’ by Britam is a unique health cover offering a comprehensive solution that meets the diverse needs of customers and provides peace of mind. This medical cover is available to individuals and families. Whether you're a young professional, a growing family, or a retiree seeking reliable coverage, our product is designed to ensure that you receive the best health care at an affordable rate to support you in living a healthier and happier life.

Speaking at a press conference, Mr. Farai Dogo, The CEO of Britam Insurance Tanzania, stated, "We are excited to introduce Afya Care, a product that underscores our commitment to providing quality health insurance solutions to our customers. Our aim is to offer peace of mind by ensuring access to excellent health care services, thereby enhancing the well-being of our clients."

Amani Health is designed to provide a unique health insurance solution for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and formalized groups of people that is affordable with comprehensive benefits. The cover caters to a minimum of 5 employees/principal members plus their nuclear family dependents.

Mr. George Mwita, Medical Business Manager at Britam Insurance Tanzania, added, "Amani Health is tailored to meet the needs of MSMEs and organized groups, ensuring they have access to quality health care services. This initiative is part of our broader strategy to support the growth and development of small businesses in Tanzania.

Both Afya Care and Amani Health offer Inpatient (IP) and Outpatient (OP) cover within Britam’s network of medical care providers to individuals, groups, and families. Benefits are custom-made with various options to choose from, providing different levels of benefits. These options are based on three tiers – POA, IMARA, and SUPER – for as low as TZS 370,000. Additional benefits available include Dental, Maternity, Optical, Last Expense, and Repatriation of remains.

The company offers international and referral services within East Africa and India with roaming services are provided in all countries where Britam Insurance operates – Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Mozambique, and South Sudan.
