SAMSUNG INTRODUCES DEVICE FINANCING TO FACILITATE SMARTPHONE PENETRATION

Dar es Salaam: According to a Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA) report, more Tanzanians are now using smartphones as the numbers of feature phone users start declining. The statistics indicate that the usage of smartphones among Tanzanians increased from 15% in December 2021 to 32.59 percent in March 2024.

This is a positive sign for the nation regarding the development of the communication sector driven by the growth of the global digital economy. Phones are no longer just luxury items, but essential devices to achieve equality in economic development.

By partnering with various telecom companies and electronics manufacturers, the government strives to ensure that all citizens benefit regardless of their location or income status.

In support of these efforts, Samsung Electronics Tanzania is building collaborations with different partners to enable Tanzanians to purchase smartphones through affordable loans.

Speaking about this collaboration, Samsung Tanzania's Country Leads, Manish Jangra, emphasized their commitment to making it easier for people to access smart gadgets at affordable prices to facilitate the development of economic activities.

"The demand for smartphones has been increasing yearly according to regularly released statistics. This shows that many Tanzanians understand their benefits and the need to access them at affordable costs. Communication has expanded from simply calling and receiving calls from relatives and friends to being used for everyday social and economic activities," said Mr. Manish.

Thanks to partnerships with Telecom and Fintech firms, Tanzanians can now visit Samsung stores, authorized dealers, and any Telecom store to acquire smartphones through an affordable device financing scheme.

"We understand that many people aspire to have smartphones but often face the challenge of having enough money to purchase at that particular time. Therefore, through this device financing campaign, starting with as little as 70,000 Tanzanian shillings, a customer can purchase a smartphone on an affordable loan that allows them to repay in very little installments with a flexibility of daily or weekly repayments within twelve months," concluded Mr. Manish.

Tanzanians can benefit from this nationwide device finance campaign by visiting Samsung stores, Authorized Dealers and Telecom Stores to benefit from unbeatable brands such as Samsung Galaxy A05, Galaxy A05s, Galaxy A15, Galaxy A25 5G, Galaxy A35 5G, and Galaxy A55 5G. Having a smartphone will not only simplify daily communication needs but also give someone access to digital, social and economic activities such as banking, finance, health, agriculture, education, gaming, and entertainment to mention a few.
