Geita Gold Mining Limited (GGML) has provided the chance for attendees of the Tanzania International Conference on Mining and Investment -2023 to witness live mining operations at their site in the Geita region. This initiative aims to educate the public on the latest cutting-edge technologies employed in the mining industry.
Government officials, including the Minister of Mining from Malawi, Monica Chang'anamuno and her colleague Ministry of Mining Principal Secretary, Joseph Mkandawire attended a two-day conference in Dar es Salaam last week.
During the event, GGML utilised a Virtual Reality Headset to provide participants with an immersive experience of their operations in the Geita region. The advanced systems employed by the company prioritise the protection and wellbeing of workers at the workplace.
Discussing the technology showcased at the GGML booth during the Tanzania Mining & Investment Forum in Dar es Salaam, Malawi's Minister of Mines, Monica Chang'anamuno commended GGML as a prime example for utilising technology that enhances mineral mining activities in the country.
She also urged the company to maintain collaboration with the government to further the development of the mining industry, which stands as the primary source of foreign currency in the country.
Geita's Regional Commissioner, Martin Shigela, used the Oculus headset to witness GGML mining activities "firsthand". He encouraged investors to seize the available opportunities, especially with the enhanced investment environment under President Samia Suluhu Hassan's leadership.
Dr. Doto Biteko, the Deputy Prime Minister, opened the exhibition on behalf of President Samia Suluhu Hassan on 25th October 2023. It was subsequently concluded on October 26th, 2023, by Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa on behalf of Zanzibar's President, Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi.
