GGML SHINES AT CONSUMER CHOICE AWARDS AFRICA

Geita Gold Mining Limited (GGML) emerged as the most trusted company in the mining sector at the Consumer Choice Awards Africa (CCAA) held over the weekend.

Speaking after receiving the award on behalf of GGML at the awards ceremony held in Dar es Salaam, GGML's Public Relations and Communications Manager, Stephen Mhando, said "This award is testament to the work that we do across the country. One of our core values is ensuring that the communities within which we operate, are better off for Geita Gold Mining Limited having been there.” The award continues to validate the company's commitment to serving the public in various sectors.

He said the company, whose priorities are to focus on integrity and transparency in the conduct of its business, has continued to strengthen good relations with the community through its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme.

Speaking earlier at the awards ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Energy, Dr. Doto Biteko, said the government recognises that the development of the country cannot be achieved by the government alone, but in collaboration with the private sector which is the catalyst for bringing development to the people, and that is why the government continues to improve the investment environment in the country.

Dr. Biteko represented the President, Her Excellency Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, at the CCAA ceremony in Dar es Salaam on 11 November 2023. He said the awards exemplified the government's continued efforts to create a better business environment in the country.

"Therefore, investors with capital, we welcome you to come and invest in Tanzania and we would like to reassure you that the government will work with you so that the money you invest in the business will give you a return and Tanzania will also benefit from the presence of relevant projects," Dr. Biteko said.

Dr. Biteko said he was happy with the way the voting was done because only those who give the best services get a chance to be voted for and awarded. He also congratulated the organisers of the awards, which is now in its fifth year. He also congratulated all the winning companies for providing good services and producing good products.

The Consumer Choice Awards Africa (CCAA) is an annual awards ceremony that recognises excellence in companies and businesses in Tanzania and Africa, through the public opinion of 'consumers' who vote for their favourite company through online voting. These awards have been in existence since 2019 and are organised under Lavine International Agency Limited, a private company licensed to manage events in Dar-es-salaam Tanzania.

Since its inception, CCAA has built strong relationships with the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania and has been endorsed by the Ministry of Trade and Industry through TANTRADE, its close partner in organising these awards.
