Speaking at the event, also attended by the Minister of Mines, Anthony Mavunde and government leaders from Uganda, Malawi, and other countries, the Minister of Mines of Malawi, Monica Chang'anamuno praised GGML for its continuing support of the Tanzanian government's efforts to empower its people through economic empowerment.
The minister, an esteemed guest at the event, commended GGML for successfully organizing the conference with the participation of over 2000 stakeholders from various countries across the globe.
He also expressed gratitude to President Samia Suluhu Hassan for driving progress in the mining sector, setting an example for nations in East Africa and south of the Sahara.
"I urge the stakeholders in this sector to sustain their cooperation with the government to attain the goals stipulated by the relevant ministries. It is noteworthy that Tanzania is endowed with a variety of minerals," he stated.
He expressed keen interest in Tanzania's mining policy as it is a crucial aspect of mining sector development and pledged to encourage the Malawian Government to emulate the policy.
Furthermore, with regards to the award win, GGML's Managing Director Terry Strong expressed appreciation to the ministry for acknowledging the company's activities in adhering to the mining law's social responsibility standards.
He also noted that in terms of environmental protection, health and safety at work, the company has prioritised the dignity and sustainable environment of its employees and the community around the mine.
