- Spends Tsh. 40 Million to Improve Education in Mwanga District
Bayport Financial Services, a leading micro-finance company has donated 30 computers to Mwanga District in Kilimanjaro as part of Bayport's commitment to Education, a central pillar of its Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy, which places a strong emphasis on valuing education through technology.
The handover ceremony of the donation was held at the two Mwanga’s Kighare and Kamwala Secondary Schools.
Mr. John Mbaga, CEO of Bayport Financial Services, said during the occasion in the district yesterday that Bayport believes every child deserves access to quality education as education and technology plays a crucial role in enabling this.
“Through our ESG initiative, we are dedicated to bridging the infrastructure gap in Tanzania and empowering the next generation with the tools they need to succeed.
In this initiative, Bayport has collaborated with both Airtel Tanzania and The Tanzania Institute of Education and through this collaboration, Airtel will grant the school free internet access, while The Tanzania Institute of Education will supply the digital learning module.
On his part, Mr Christian Mtavanga Principal system administrator at Tanzania Institute of Education stated that this kind of module encompasses various subjects and past examinations accessible online, ensuring a smooth and enriching learning experience for the students.
Cemented this the Bayport’s Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Nderingo Materu, said "This collaboration exemplifies the power of public-private partnerships in driving positive change in education. Bayport has donated 30 computers, 30 desks and chairs, a speaker and a 65-inch television worth Tsh 40 million.
“By combining resources and expertise, Bayport Financial Services and its partners are creating an environment where technology-enhanced learning can thrive,”said the Bayport COO.
The event saw the presence of representatives from Bayport Financial Services, Bayport brand ambassador Mr. Haji Manara, Airtel Tanzania, The Tanzania Institute of Education, and the school's administration team lead and heads of Kamwala and Kighare
