The “Role of Youth in Energy Sector conference” is an event that aims at providing students with wide knowledge on opportunities available in the new energy projects such as Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) project, The East African Crude Oil Pipeline project (EACOP) as well as other prospective projects in the Energy sector.
Representing the Minister of Energy, the Guest of Honor, Michael Mjinja, who is the Commissioner of Petroleum and Gas said; “It is very interesting to see efforts made to enlighten our youth about the new projects and all available opportunities in the sector”. As we have more investors coming to our country, we want to have youth who are sharp and quick in seizing opportunities. The government is bringing all these projects to improve our economy which is also to provide employment to our young generation”. And as young generation, you should be ready to compete with other people from different universities in the employment sector.
Speaking during the event, the founder and chairman of the Board of ATOGS Abdulsamad Abdulrahim said; “We are very moved by the way our young students have been so interested to gain knowledge on the new projects. We are here, ready to present and support them in all needed knowledge in the energy sector.”
For his part, Managing Director of EACOP, Martin Tiffen said; “The youth are the future of any country and we are very happy to be a part of this great initiative. My team and I are so honored by all the support and interest to know more about what we do. EACOP project is likely to benefit the future engineers and most likely students from all other department”.
The conference was attended by various stakeholders in the energy sector including TotalEnergies Marketing Tanzania, TPDC, TANESCO and the Ministry of Energy.
