It will take more than a single documentary to parade Tanzania’s abundant tourist attractions.
The Royal Tour documentary, now confirmed as Part I, is just the beginning of an ambitious tourism and investment sectors’ promotion drive.
President Samia Suluhu Hassan confirmed on Sunday that Tanzanians and the world should be prepared for the second and third parts of her Royal Tour, as she underlined her commitment to accelerate the tourism sector’s recovery from the shackles of Covid-19 pandemic.
The Head of State made the revelation during the national premiering of the documentary at the Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre (JNICC) in Dar es Salaam on Sunday, amid applause from thousands of viewers, who showed up for the big event in the country’s commercial city.
President Samia revealed that the government had set a target of collecting 20bn/- for filming of the documentary but it managed to fetch 12.7bn/- out of 19bn/- which was pledged by various stakeholders.
“The filming of the documentary was not an easy task during the eight days of the production but we managed it through support from well-wishers. We are now focusing on producing the second and third phase to promote tourism opportunities,” the President disclosed in her brief speech before the last premiering of the 56-minute documentary.
She noted that the cost of filming the first phase of the Royal Tour documentary was 7bn/-, insisting that the amount was raised through contributions by various stakeholders in the private sector.
President Samia mentioned some of the contributors who made it possible for the production of the documentary as members of the Tanzania Bankers Association (TBA), CEO Round Table of Tanzania (CEOrt), Tanzania Private Sector Foundation (TPSF) and Tanzania Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (TCCIA).
