MAISHA MAGIC BONGO CELEBRATES MILESTONE OF 5 YEARS OF MAGIC

A platform with the most exciting content and where authentic Tanzanian stories are told…

Maisha Magic Bongo launched on the October 2015 on DSTV Channel 160. With great determination and attention to the Tanzanian language, culture and taste, the channel has since grown to be the most loved local channel amongst the homogenous target market.

“The channel was initially launched as a predominantly movie channel coupled with lifestyle shows. As audience demand grew, this inclined the platform to add local Drama’s, Telenovela’s, Lifestyle as well as Indian dubbed content which has a massive following in the market that we operate in” said Barbara Kambogi, the Head of Channel since its inception. Hands up to those who can recall Mzooka- the one-hour music show that featured the latest in urban hits from Tanzania, Talaaka- the drama series that kept you and your loved ones glued to your seats weekdays or the celebrity cooking show, Jikoni na Marion that put your cooking skills to the test as well as the riveting drama series- Kapuni and Sarafu!

“We work with the best producers whom we groom and mentor to produce world class content” said Kambogi. “Throughout the past 5 years, the channel has gone through a complete content overhaul whilst addressing the entertainment needs of the Tanzanian viewers and developing the entertainment industry and economy of the region.

In line with the 5 year Anniversary, Maisha Magic Bongo launched 2 new drama’s, Nyavu and Slay Queen which has since taken Tanzania by storm in addition to Date My Family (DMF), a dating show with a twist, where bachelors and bachelorettes share a meal with three different families in the hope of finding their happily ever after. “Our mandate as a channel is to provide our audience with thought provoking as well as entertaining content which capture our cultural nuances as Tanzanians.

“It is not by chance that the channel has survived in the most detrimental economic times. As a channel we continuously study audience behavior and adjust our content mix to suite the market at hand”. said Kambogi. The channel is also equipped with a Content and Marketing Team that is equally skilled in Broadcasting and always on the lookout for new and fresh stories as well as innovative ways to launch and excite the audience” she concluded.
