TANGA CEMENT EMERGES OVERALL WINNER ONCE AGAIN IN BEST PRESENTED FINANCIAL STATEMENTS AWARDS

Tanga Cement Plc has stamped a trend-setting record after emerging the overall winner in Tanzania for the Best Presented Financial Statements awards 2017 issued by the National Board of Accountants and Auditors, the third feat for the cement giant in three consecutive years.

The award, held as the ultimate gauge for financial reporting prowess in companies in Tanzania, and which passes through a rigorous screening system overseen by seasoned judges with diverse backgrounds, is for companies using the International Financial Reporting Standards(IFRS).

Tanga Cement Plc, also scooped the award for Best Presented Financial Statements for the Manufacturing Sector, stamping their names conspicuously as the indisputable serial winners in the two categories.

Receiving the two awards in Dar es Salaam over the weekend, Tanga Cement Financial Controller Issac Lupokela said: “ This victory demonstrates how we are committed to maintaining the highest professional integrity in presentation of our financial statements.”

Deputy Minister for Finance and Planning, Dr. Ashatu Kijaji, who was the guest of honour in the event, while congratulating the winners, said : “This award is the pinnacle of excellence in financial reporting and corporate governance in Tanzania.”

The NBAA Chairman Prof. Isaya Jairo said the objective of the awards is to promote good corporate accounting in Tanzania. Said Prof Jairo : “ This is the best platform for promoting professionalism in the presentation of financial statements.”
