The official signing ceremony took place in a luxurious yacht dubbed ‘Sea Leopard’ on the shores of the Indian Ocean in Dar es Salaam, on Wednesday. The five star status boat is being introduced for the first time in the country.
TTB Managing Director, Ms Devotha Mdachi said they are delighted to receive the sponsorship and this year’s events are going to promote a new product of cruise tourism to other parts of the world.
“Swahili International Tourism Expo is currently one of the biggest events in promoting the country’s tourism industry and for this year’s event we expect to receive about 200 tourist agents from different parts of the world.
For that matter our sponsors will get an opportunity to host some of the participants who will be given a special trip tour by the company’s own boat dubbed as the ‘Sea Leopard’ boat,” she said.
She disclosed that cruise tourism is a new experience of which they want not only foreigners to experience but Tanzanians as well. “The Sea Leopard is a one among the most luxurious yacht boats to be witnessed in the country; It offers a traveler an experience which is beyond measures People can overnight use the boat to visit some of our islands and return to Dar es Salaam.
However, what TTB is trying to increase tourism opportunities in the region. Am quite sure this one of a kind yacht is going to open up a new chapter of cruise tourism in Tanzania,” she noted.
Tanzania Ocean Cruise and Safaris Company Limited, Managing Director Mr Peter Assanful said as main sponsors of the event they have been bold enough to come and invest in the country’s tourism sector, because of the faith and trust they have on the country.
“Before deciding to come to Tanzania above all East African countries, we did our research and realized that it is a perfect partner for us, because the country has everything when it comes to tourism.
The country has the Kilimanjaro Mountain, Serengeti National Park, Zanzibar among other tourist attractions,” he pointed out adding that; “These are big tourist attraction by themselves and we were looking for a country that will also give us the experience, because we also are selling experience.
The Sea Leopard offers experience so we are looking for a country that will grant us a readymade experience, we didn’t find any other country which could give us that rather than Tanzania,” he said.
