The National Housing Corporation (NHC) Sales Manager, Itandula

13th June 2017, Dar es Salaam. The Dar es Salaam Gymkhana club, a Multi-faceted sports facility is set to mark its 100th birthday in style since its inception in 1916.
As the club prepares to mark the 100 years anniversary, a
number of sports activities have been lined up to mark the important occasion
from the 03rd of July, 2017 and set to climax on 08th according
to the club chairman Mr. Walter Chipeta.
Among the activities for the club’s 100th anniversary
celebrations include golf tournament, tennis, squash, football, cricket,
swimming and many others which will involve both members and non-members.
Speaking at a press conference in Dar es Salaam, Gymkhana
Club chairman, Mr. Walter Chipeta said “The 100 year celebrations mark a
historical turning point for the club and we want to celebrate this through a
number of activities that will start from 03rd July and climax
on 8th July.”
Chipeta said that members, non-members of the club from in
and outside Tanzania are welcome to participate in the tournaments and assured
participants that there will be a lot of fun and excitement.
According to the Sales Manager from NHC who are the official
sponsors of the club’s 100 years anniversary Mr. Itandula Gambalagi “We are
honoured to be associated with such a distinctive club that’s full of so much
heritage. He added that the event also
provides an opportunity for NHC to interact with their existing and potential
customers in a relaxed and social environment.”
Apart from NHC, DGC also thanked

in the event as sponsors.
Dar es Salaam Gymkhana club as a sports facility has over
the years become a platform for bringing people together through sports and
other social activities.
It features kids’ sports and people with disabilities
as well those who can participate in sports like tennis, and squash. It is a
club with open doors to all who wish to join and become part of the historical
heritage and further growth of the multi-sports facility.

About Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club
The multi-sports facility club was established in 1916 as a
horse riding facility for the then Tanganyika governor lord Cameron, Dar es
Salaam Gymkhana club has over the years evolved to become the center for
development of all forms of sports and entertainment i.e. football, golf,
squash, cricket, snooker, tennis and a swimming pool. It’s Membership has
increased to just over 1000 including full member's foreign resident's members,
country members, honorary members, temporary members, member's children and
reciprocal members.
Far from being a sport facility Dar es Salaam Gymkhana club
also contains the men’s bar at a heart of Dar es Salaam Gymkhana club, a roof
terrace, a restaurant ensuring the catering services are available at all times
for the members. Generally the entire sports facility reflects a heaven of calm
environment in the middle of a very busy city. The club has been a home for
various social events as well i.e. Nyama choma festivals in 2014, July Mug
tournament in 20.
