Objectives

THE BANK:

Established in 1964, the African Development Bank is the premier pan-African development institution, promoting economic growth and social progress across the continent. There are 80 member states, including 54 in Africa (Regional Member Countries).  The Bank’s development agenda is delivering the financial and technical support for transformative projects that will significantly reduce poverty through inclusive and sustainable economic growth. In order to sharply focus the objectives of the Ten Year Strategy (2013 – 2022) and ensure greater developmental impact, five major areas (High 5s), all of which will accelerate our delivery for Africa, have been identified for scaling up, namely; energy, agro-business, industrialization, integration and improving the quality of life for the people of Africa. The Bank is seeking to build a management team that will lead the successful implementation of this vision. 

THE HIRING COMPLEX:

The Vice President and Chief Financial Officer oversees the financial management of the Bank Group. This encompasses the Bank Group’s treasury activities including borrowings from the capital markets and investment activities; controllership functions including financial reporting and loan administration; strategic resource mobilization and the strengthening of the non-statutory financial resources and instruments; the overall asset/liability management for the Bank Group. 

THE POSITION:

Reporting directly to the Bank President, the Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Finance is responsible for providing strategic leadership on all Finance-related activities of the Bank Group, comprising primarily the treasury, accounting and financial reporting, financial management, resource mobilization including syndication and co-financing activities. The Administrator of the African Development Bank’s staff retirement plan also reports to the Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.  The Vice President of Finance provides strategic advice to the President on the key financial matters of the African Development Bank, the African Development Fund and the Nigeria Trust Fund.
