The Minister of State in the Isles President’s Office,
Mr Issa Haji Ussi, informed reporters at a press conference here that more than 300 delegates are expected to attend the meeting, scheduled to be opened yesterday at the Zanzibar Beach Resort by President Ali Mohamed Shein.
“We value the role being played by members of the Tanzania Diaspora so far. The governments are pushing for the strengthening of partnership for economical development of our countries,” Mr Ussi said.
He told reporters that different topics would be presented at the meeting, including the issues on dual citizenship and the available opportunities in the East African Community (EAC) with regard to Tanzania Diaspora.
According to the minister, the discussions would focus on how the Diaspora can further be involved in addressing the social and economical challenges facing ‘Tanzanian mainland and Zanzibar’ and to significantly impact the communities.
Mr Ussi said Union President John Magufuli is expected to close the conference tomorrow before the delegates visit several areas of investment opportunities on Unguja Island.
