The spokesperson of the Department, Deputy Commissioner Abbas Irovya, said in a statement to the press in Dar es Salaam that the Business Visa and Business Pass would not be issued to foreigners who are entering the country for employment purpose.
“Those who are entering the country with such purpose will be required first to apply for the work permit to the Department of Labour before landing the job,” said the deputy commissioner.
Mr Irovya pointed out that the 90-day Business Visa would be issued to foreigners who come from the country whose citizens require entry visa and that the period would not be extended after the visa expiry.
“The Business Pass which lasts for 90 days will be issued to foreigners who come from the country whose citizens require visa while entering the country,” he observed.
Mr Irovya said the Immigration Department has started to issue Business Visa at USD 250 and the Business Pass at USD 200 since January 15 this year.
He pointed out further the Business Visa and Business Pass would be issued under the permit of Commissioner General of Immigration through the Immigration Services Headquarters, the Office of Immigration Commissioner in Zanzibar, Entry Points and Tanzania Missions abroad.
As for CTA, the Deputy Commissioner said the government was working on shortcomings in issuing of the CTA, saying the government has already amended Visa Regulations to improve the CTI issuing.
Mr Irovya said the government started to review the 1997 Immigration Regulations with the purpose to solve challenges facing the CTA issuing, saying the Minister for Foreign Affairs has already signed the amendment of the regulations to improve the CTA issuing.
“The Home Affairs Minister has already signed the new regulations ready to be published in the government gazette,” he said.
