On Wednesday, December 16, 2015, KCB Bank handed over a cheque of TZS 3,850,000 to the Tanzania League of blinds to enable them to purchase 70 white canes to celebrate the International White Cane Day which will be held in Tabora.

White Cane Day, is an international awareness raising event, celebrates the importance of the white cane and promotes a safe environment for long cane users.

The White Cane is a walking instrument for the blind to enable them to move freely and independently and detect obstacles in their way. It serves as a traffic sign and pleads for safety to the police, motorists and pedestrians, urging them to show to the blind the right way.

Since 1997, KCB Bank Tanzania has supported the community through social impacting projects to the tune of over 1 billion TZS. The said projects have improved the learning facilities (desk) for public owned and managed primary schools, improved provision of healthcare through provision of health care equipment, rehabilitated and conserved the environment, supported enterprise development and assisted communities that had emergencies as a result of floods.
