9 April 2015 - fastjet operations in Tanzania carried a total of 56,808 passengers and achieved a load factor of 70%. This represents an increase of 66% in the number of passengers carried and a 3% increase in the load factor, compared with the same month last year.
Punctuality for the month remained excellent, with 91% of flights arriving on time Note 3. This was despite increased aircraft utilisation with additional flights added to the network.
Ed Winter, Chief Executive Officer of fastjet plc, said:
"I am delighted to see our passenger numbers continue to rise year on year by 66%. This clearly demonstrates the growth that fastjet has achieved as our low-cost model continues to stimulate the Tanzanian air travel market. I am also pleased with the continued growth of our network and aircraft utilisation with the launch of two new routes in March. Linking Kilimanjaro and Mwanza provides a reliable and affordable service for these commercially important areas, whilst serving Entebbe from Kilimanjaro provides direct tourist and business opportunities between Tanzania and Uganda."
