INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON VENTURE CAPITAL AND PRIVATE EQUITY IN TANZANIA

TANZANIA VENTURE CAPITAL AND PRIVATE EQUITY PROJECT (TVC)
INVITATION FOR PARTICIPATING IN THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON VENTURE CAPITAL AND PRIVATE EQUITY IN TANZANIA
“SMART CHOICE FOR UNLOCKING INVESTMENT FINANCING POSSIBILITIES”
4th November 2014 to 7th November 2014
At Serena Hotel Dar es Salaam, TANZANIA
1.0              Background:-
Tanzania Venture Capital and Private Equity Project (TVC) is a Joint Project between Tanzania Private Sector Foundation (TPSF) and TMS Consultants Ltd. The major project objective is to economically empower the local Tanzanian Private sector in order to be able to increase their participation as part of ownership of large scale investments in the country. This objective will be achieved through the Expansion and formalization of Venture Capital and Private Equity Investment Financing Industry in Tanzania.
For many years, the local Tanzanian Private Sector has failed to access large, long-term and low cost investment financing facilities. Venture Capital and Private Equity Investment financing facilities are BASICALLY NOT LOANS; therefore it does not normally require ANY COLLATERAL REQUIREMENT AS THE COMMERCIAL BANKS DO. Instead, the venture capital and private equity investment financing is actually a BUSINESS FINANCING THROUGH JOINT VENTURE PARTNERSHIP BASIS.
For entrepreneurs, to raise money successfully from the right people, you need to understand what they look for and what they expect you to accomplish with the money you raise. In simple terms: the institutional seed investors are the new early stage VCs: the people who get you from an idea to a real business. Venture capital plays a vital role in getting companies to this stage and beyond. Venture capital partners become actively engaged with a company, typically taking a board seat. With a startup, daily interaction with the management team is common. Venture capital is more than money. It is important to know the dynamics involved in dealing with VCs and Private Equity Funds.
