Ms. Aisha Sinda
Ms. Aisha Sinda has been selected by the China Law Society to participate in the first training under the auspices of the China - Africa Legal Forum as a representative of Tanganyika Law Society (TLS) and SADC Lawyers Association (SADCLA). The training entitled "China - Africa Young Legal Professionals Exchange Program" will be held by China Law Society from September 1 to 30, 2014 at the Beijing Foreign Studies University, Beijing, China.
The course admitted 35 participants in total ranging from judges, prosecutors, lawyers, government legal counsels, counsels for large enterprises and law researchers as well as other legal professionals from Africa.
The China Law Society looks for young lawyers with 5 years or above working experience who;
- have good command of English
- must be below 45 years old
- engage in the Chinese - African economic and trade exchanges
The course will comprise of lectures and field studies and will provide the participants with the necessary and general information on the rule of law in China, Chinese legal culture, China's legal practice system and other relevant laws. The China Law Society will invite famous Chinese scholars, officials and lawyers to speak to the participants.
They will also arrange visits to local courts, the bar association, the arbitration commission and well known law firms where relevant seminars will be held.
Ms. Sinda, an advocate, is an associate at Mkono & Co. Advocates and feels fortunate to have been selected for the program as a representative of TLS and SADCLA because there were several advocates from the SADCLA region who applied for the training. She hopes the training will enable her to understand better the practical cooperation between China - Africa legal fields and provide her with a unique networking opportunity. She told TLS the training will build her confidence and ability to engage in China - Africa dialogue as well as expand her professional networks and provide her with knowledge, necessary to achieve her career goals as a lawyer and ultimately will lead to her to being a positive contributor to her country, Tanzania.
