More than 1,200 local and international exhibitors are expected to take part in the 38th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DIFT).
The Director General of the Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TANTRADE), Ms Jacqueline Maleko, told a news conference in Dar es Salaam that the preparations of the 38th DITF in Dar es Salaam are on the final stages for the exhibitions to take off at end of month.
“Generally, we are on the right track with the trade fair preparations that will attract local exhibitors including ministries, public and private enterprises as well as international firms,” she said.
She said the trade fair was a unique occasion for Tanzanians to explore immense business opportunities to seal business deals with the international companies.
As an annual event, it provides a rare opportunity for investors to explore to identify various investment ventures in Tanzania.
The theme for the 38th DITF is based on linking the manufacturing of goods with markets, that will provide unique opportunity to manufacturers to get new markets for their products.
Ms Maleko also urged local manufacturers to find the necessary market information before producing goods that would help them become competitive in the global markets.
She said as it was in the previous exhibitions, this year again, there will be a special tent for Tanzanian goods only, having an ultimate goal of cultivating the culture of buying local manufactured goods.
The trade fair has established itself over years as the shop window for Tanzania products as well as the East, Central and the Southern African regions.
Supported by the services of the Dar es Salaam port that serves the region effectively, the trade fair acts as one stop centre for the landlocked countries including Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Zambia, Malawi, Zimbabwe and Botswana.
