President Jakaya Kikwete is expected to chair the Market Consultation for Phase One of the DART Project in Dar es Salaam early next month.
The Chief Executive of Dar es Salaam Rapid Transit (DART) Agency, Ms. Asteria Mlambo, told journalists in the city over the weekend that the meeting would give potential local and foreign investors information on existing opportunities.
“All the participants in the meeting will visit the area of the project where they will get ample time to seek more clarification about the project,” Ms Mlambo said. She said the meeting was expected to attract investors from different industries including bus manufacturers, financial institutions and telecoms.
“The Permanent Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office (Regional Administration and Local Government), Mr. Jumanne Sagini will make a presentation on the DART project,” she explained.
Ms. Mlambo said the REBEL Group as the Transaction Advisors will make a presentation on the phase one envisaged contractual arrangement and tender process.
She said the agency has organised the meeting with owners of Dar es Salaam commuter buses, UDA Company and other key stakeholders in the region before next month’s market consultation to chart a way forward and learn how they will fit in the much awaited BRT system.
DART is a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system being introduced in Dar es salaam. The system will ultimately become the core public transport provider in the city and will consist of trunk buses operating on exclusive bus ways in the centre of major roads.
