Dodoma, February 12, 2026 – The Minister of State, President’s Office – Planning and Investment, Hon. Prof. Kitila Mkumbo, has commended CRDB Bank Foundation and CRDB Bank for launching the Go Green with IMBEJU programme, describing it as a strategic initiative that directly aligns the Government’s green economy agenda with youth empowerment.
Speaking during the launch event held at the Jakaya Kikwete Convention Center (JKCC), Prof. Mkumbo said the programme is fully aligned with Tanzania’s National Development Vision 2050, which emphasizes building an inclusive, competitive, and climate-resilient economy while positioning youth at the centre of national transformation.
“The Government has placed strong emphasis on empowering youth economically, promoting a green economy, and strengthening collaboration between the public and private sectors. Youth-led environmental projects like the ones we see today are a direct and practical implementation of Vision 2050,” said Prof. Mkumbo.
He underscored that private sector participation remains a critical pillar in transforming young people’s innovative ideas into sustainable enterprises that create jobs and contribute meaningfully to national development.
Parliament Backs Green Economy Framework
The Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of the United Republic of Tanzania, Hon. Daniel Sillo, noted that Parliament has laid a strong legal foundation to support environmental protection and the growth of the green economy.
He described the programme as a practical example of aligning policy direction, financial capital, and youth innovation to deliver tangible development outcomes.
Financing Youth Innovation in Key Green Sectors
The Go Green with IMBEJU programme is designed to support youth-led innovative projects across key sectors, including:
- Climate-smart agriculture
- Renewable and clean energy
- Water technologies
- Waste management
- Environmental conservation
- Digital innovation
Under the initiative, young entrepreneurs will access affordable financing ranging from TZS 500,000 to TZS 500 million, depending on the size and scale of their projects.
Bridging International Climate Finance and Youth Innovation
Speaking at the event, CRDB Bank Managing Director, Abdulmajid Nsekela, said the programme acts as a bridge between international climate finance and innovative young entrepreneurs who often lack collateral or formal credit history required under traditional banking systems.
“Through Go Green with IMBEJU, we believe more young people will be reached, prepared, and empowered to actively participate in the green economy. This is a strategic linkage between international climate finance and the innovation of Tanzanian youth,” said Nsekela.
He further revealed that through the USD 200 million Tanzania Climate Adaptation and Agriculture Development Programme (TACATDP) — implemented in partnership with the Green Climate Fund (UN GCF) — over TZS 100 billion has already been disbursed, reaching approximately 600,000 beneficiaries nationwide.
Digital Application Process via FursaHub
CRDB Bank Foundation Managing Director, Tully Esther Mwambapa, provided detailed insight into the programme’s implementation framework, noting that it has been specifically designed to be youth-friendly and digitally accessible.
Applications will be submitted through the FursaHub platform in collaboration with the National Economic Empowerment Council (NEDC).
“Applications for Go Green with IMBEJU will be submitted digitally through the FursaHub system from February 12 to March 11, 2026. The system will screen applications based on established criteria, and eligible projects will be forwarded to a panel of experts for comprehensive assessment,” said Mwambapa.
Successful applicants will undergo specialized business and innovation training at the CRDB Bank Foundation Innovation Hub before receiving financing.
In addition to affordable capital ranging from TZS 500,000 to TZS 500 million, top-performing projects will have an opportunity to access grant funding between TZS 500,000 and TZS 10 million to accelerate business growth.
Mwambapa added that since its establishment in 2023, CRDB Bank Foundation has supported more than 1,250,000 entrepreneurs through financial literacy training, entrepreneurship support, and affordable capital exceeding TZS 21 billion, helping build a full value chain that prepares youth to enter the formal financial system.
Youth Success Story: From Idea to Enterprise
Representing youth-led innovative start-ups that showcased their solutions during the launch, Irene Vambi, Founder of Mrembo Naturals, shared her entrepreneurial journey.
She explained that through the IMBEJU programme, she accessed training, mentorship, and capital that enabled her to scale production of her natural products and create additional employment opportunities.
“IMBEJU helped me turn my idea into a growing business that now employs other young people. Go Green with IMBEJU is a real opportunity for youth with innovation and dreams. I encourage my fellow youth to seize this opportunity and believe in themselves,” she said.
