DAR ES SALAAM: The CRDB Bank Foundation has reaffirmed its commitment to empowering young entrepreneurs by supporting the launch of a new national platform aimed at linking youth-led startups with key players in the business ecosystem.
The Foundation sponsored the launch of the National Enterprise Development Chamber (NEDC), a non-governmental organisation designed to connect innovative startups—particularly those led by young people—with entrepreneurs, investors, and public institutions. The initiative seeks to foster partnerships that enhance the business and investment environment in Tanzania.
The launch event drew praise from the Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office (Labour, Youth, Employment and Persons with Disabilities), Hon. Ridhiwani Kikwete, who commended CRDB Bank Foundation for its continued efforts in promoting youth entrepreneurship and financial literacy through the Imbeju Programme.
“The CRDB Bank Foundation is doing an exceptional job in uplifting young people through its Imbeju Programme. The entrepreneurship and financial education you provide are invaluable. Your commitment to supporting the NEDC is also commendable and will help integrate more youths into formal financial services,” said Minister Kikwete.
According to Tully Esther Mwambapa, Managing Director of the CRDB Bank Foundation, the organisation collaborates with stakeholders to improve the lives of economically and financially marginalised communities. This is done through the provision of entrepreneurship training, financial education, and startup capital to eligible entrepreneurs.
“By promoting entrepreneurship and innovation, we are driving the growth of youth-led startups and innovations. We empower young people and women through training in financial literacy, business management, record-keeping, and resource mobilisation. We also support innovation through programmes that nurture and grow early-stage businesses,” Mwambapa stated.
The Foundation also stressed the importance of building financial capability among low-income communities and promoting a savings and investment culture. It added that integrating youths and women into formal financial services—without imposing harsh conditions—is essential to improving their quality of life.
“CRDB Bank Foundation recognises the power of strategic partnerships in bringing about positive change. This is the surest way to open more opportunities for young entrepreneurs and women across the country. We work with the government to advance financial inclusion and foster innovation, and with the private sector to boost investment in entrepreneurship and financial literacy,” Mwambapa added.
Jesse Madauda, Founder and CEO of NEDC, echoed these sentiments, stating that the Chamber will continue to collaborate with government bodies, public and private institutions, and other partners to support Tanzania’s economic development.
“By combining forces, resources, and strategies, we believe we can accelerate the growth of startups with the potential to transform communities,” Madauda noted.
CRDB Bank reaffirmed its position as one of the leading financial institutions in East Africa. The bank offers a wide range of services to individuals, SMEs, and corporates, including personal banking, treasury services, insurance, business loans, agricultural financing, and microentrepreneur empowerment.
