- THE AIM IS TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR EXEMPLARY CONTRIBUTIONS OF TANZANIAN WOMEN IN THEIR COMMUNITIES TO CELEBRATE WOMEN’S DAY
The Coca-Cola Kwanza Ltd, a Subsidiary of Coca-Cola Beverages Africa has today launched a new season of Mwanamke shujaa campaign to celebrate exemplary contributions of Tanzanian women to mark the International Women’s Day.
The campaign, which translates to “A brave Woman”, aims to recognize Women efforts, provide a platform for Women to inspire each other, networking, build confidence and share several experiences of achieving gender equality for sustainable development, in line with this year’s theme. It also aims to underline Coca-Cola Kwanza’s commitment towards women Empowerment.
The campaign is set to recognise women efforts from various sectors in the community and remind them on self-confidence, self-esteem and self-reliance in achieving their goals.
The International women’s day theme for 2021 is focused on Women in leadership and Coca-Cola kwanza by recognizing efforts made by exemplary women has introduced “Excellence in Leadership Awards” in 10 different sectors for outstanding women in leadership positions.
Speaking during the Launch, The Coca-Cola Kwanza Business Development and Commercial Director Josephine Msalilwa said the motive behind this campaign and awards is to celebrate, recognize and inspire women from different sectors that they can.
“It’s about celebrating women’s achievements and successes, and inspiring young women that they too, can reach their goals and achieve great success,” said Ms. Msalilwa.
Msalilwa added, responsible corporate citizens believe it is our responsibility to bring sustainable change in different sectors in which women of Tanzania operate hence the introduction of the Mwanamke shujaa campaign and Award is aimed at amplifying the exemplary contributions of women in our society.
“I have already met great and amazing women in Tanzania, who are determined to break barriers and reach greater success,” she added.
Also speaking during the event launch Yvette Gadi Campaign Coordinator said, The Mwanamke shujaa campaign ties up with the priority theme of the 65th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women;
“Women's full and effective participation and decision-making in public life, as well as the elimination of violence, for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls”.
The flagship Generation Equality campaign which calls for women’s right to decision-making in all areas of life, Yvette added, the campaign will run for 3 weeks and will be more of virtual and media Engagements which will include women in leadership live Tv Show, Documentaries, Online one to one Session, live sessions for question and Answers from women in leadership to young women in schools and Closing banquet which will be the night of Excellence in leadership Awards.
On her part, Sarah Pima the Campaign Award Chief Judge said, the aim of having excellence in leadership Award is to appreciate outstanding women performer in leadership in different sector to inspire fellow women’s to learn and do better on their respective tasks.
Pima added this year we plan to award 10 outstanding women in different promising sectors including Excellence in Educational leadership Awards, Excellence in Sports and Games Leadership Awards, Excellence in Business and Entrepreneurship leadership Awards, Excellence in health sector leadership Awards, Excellence in Science and Technology leadership Awards, Excellence in Tourism and Hospitality leadership Awards, Excellence in social, cultural and community leadership Awards, Excellence in Media leadership Awards Excellence in Entertainment leadership Awards and Excellence in Agribusiness leadership Awards.
Coca-Cola Kwanza Ltd has been involved in various sustainability initiatives that empowers women across its territory including; 5by20, a Coca-Cola global initiative to provide economic support to 5 million women to run their own businesses in developing countries by 2020.
Coca-Cola Kwanza has so far Train (Business and Entrepreneurship), Equip (Material Support) and network more the 50,000 Tanzania women through 5by20 program initiated by Coca-Cola System.
