This was revealed here recently by the TTCL Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mr Kamugisha Kazaura. He stressed that the project is in the initial implementation stage, which will be undertaken in two phases .
The first phase will comprise building 35kms of fibre in the designated capital city that will be completed in November, this year and will connect government and its institutions providing reliable coverage.
“We are planning to build metro optical fibre ring networks in Dodoma. This has taken into consideration the government’s decision to move to the municipality. We are ready to provide communication services to the government and its institutions,” he said.
According to the TTCL chief, implementation of the project will hasten connections of fibre to government and its institutions’ offices and other consumers in Dodoma. He noted that improving communication using the fibre optic backbone will continue to 2017 and in accordance with the Dodoma Master Plan.
He explained that a project to remove legacy switches, outdated systems and putting up Multi-services Access Nodes (MSAN) is already done in Dodoma and now they are planning to expand the systems according to needs and build more new systems in other areas of Dodoma.
“Medium term plans in rolling out the network in Dodoma will also include building of fibre to homes (FTTH) in accordance with the Master Plan,” Mr Kazaura explained.
