TELECOM FIRM DISHES OUT 3.3BN/- TO SUBSCRIBERS

TIGO Tanzania has announced a 3.3bn/- Tigopesa quarterly profit sharing package for its customers. The amount is six per cent higher than 3.1bn/- the firm paid in the last quarter of 2014, a rise attributed to the rising popularity of the service and the growing number of Tigopesa users, said Tigo Interim General Manager, Ms Cecile Tiano.

“We are highly excited once again to be announcing this profit distribution to our Tigopesa users. This payment underlines our commitment to improving the welfare of our customers and the country at large,” Ms Tiano said.

She explained that the quarterly payment will be paid to all Tigopesa service users including super agents, retail agents and individual customers.

“We believe that this first quarter Tigopesa profit share distribution in 2015 will be a welcome relief to millions of TigoPesa users in meeting their various financial commitments,” she said.

The Interim General Manager explained that, as before, the average return to a customer will vary based on their average daily balance in their Tigopesa e-wallet.

Tigopesa became the first mobile money service in the world to pay profit share to its users when the Tigo Pesa profit share distribution scheme was launched in July 2014.

The next instalment for the quarter of April to June 2015 will be paid out in July, this year, according to the Interim General Manager.

The Tigopesa profit share distribution scheme is in line with the Central Bank Circular issued in February 2014. The company has so far paid a total of 23.9bn/- to Tigopesa users in four quarterly disbursements since the launch of the service in July 2014.
