Dar es Salaam, December 3rd 2014 Today at 09:30am on 3rd December 2014, there was a fire threat at NBC Head Office building situated along Azikiwe and Sokoine Drive in the city center. All staff and customers were safely evacuated and accounted for. The NBC technicians and safety officers established an electrical fault at one of the cargo lifts that resulted in the triggering of the fire alarms. The fire brigade and police force responded to the scene.
“The
threat was contained and there was no damage to the people and property. And we
assure our customers and the general public that everything is calm and we are
back to our normal operations”, said Jimmy Myalize the Acting Chief Operating
Officer of NBC.
Due
to the evacuation procedures at NBC, and the arrival of the fire brigade and
police, may have caused some traffic congestion and anxiety of pedestrians
within Dar es Salaam CBD. NBC sincerely apologizes for the inconvenience
caused, and at the same assures customers and the general public that business
resumed as usual immediately after the fire threat was contained.
