TIGO TANZANIA LAUNCHES TIGO MATIC ATM IN DAR

A new mobile money feature on automated machines dubbed Tigo Matic, which enables customers to deposit and withdraw money from their Tigo Pesa accounts round the clock, has been launched.
Tigo's Head of Customer Operations, Mr Zaeem Khan said on Tuesday that the new Tigo Pesa service is an added feature to the initial services provided by the machine, which included paying bills and airtime recharge.
"The good news for the people of Masaki and Makumbusho, where are two machines situated, is that from now on they will no longer be subjected to the unnecessary queuing to access our mobile money services from Tigo shops and agents as the new Tigo Pesa feature accords them a self-service option to do such transactions," Khan added.
According to Mr Khan, Tigo customers will be able to deposit a maximum of 5m/- and withdraw up to 3m/-per day using the automated machine similar to the transaction range that is allowed in its Tigo shops or through agents.
"Apart from trying to meet our customers' expectations through innovative products like these, we believe that these Tigo Matic machines also serve as a milestone development for our country in embracing the use of modern technology in the communications sector," Khan said.
He said newly introduced Tigo Pesa service on the Tigo Matic machines will provide both holders of prepaid and post-paid accounts, access to mobile money services provided by Tigo," he said.
So far Tigo has two Tigo Matic machines installed in Dar es Salaam. In December 2013 Tigo became the first telecom company to launch the use of these machines by installing one at its head office customer care shop in Kijitonyama and a second at its Masaki Tigo shop in January, this year.
