NATIONAL BANK OF COMMERCE LAUNCHES "WEKA UPEWE" 2014 SAVINGS CAMPAIGN

Dar es Salaam, September 8th 2014. NBC customers have a chance to win and own a brand new Nissan Double Cabin Pick Up after the bank launched an exciting three month savings campaign known as Weka Upewe. 

The three month NBC Weka Upewe campaign is aimed at changing the lives of Tanzanians who will have a chance to participate in a draw to win different exciting prizes such as two wheel motorbikes (famously known as Boda boda), three wheel motorbikes (Bajajis) and the grand prize of a Nissan Double Cabin Pick Up. The draws will be conducted monthly and supervised by the Gaming Board of Tanzania.

Speaking at the press conference in Dar es Salaam yesterday, Musa Jallow the NBC Head of Retail Banking, said the campaign will see seven customers winning these exciting prizes from this promotion, which is centred on the NBC Malengo Savings Account. The promotion is open to both existing and prospective customers. 

“All customers who will open a Malengo Savings account and deposit TZS 50,000 or existing customers with Malengo Savings accounts depositing TZS 50,000 or more during the campaign period of three months, will stand a chance to win these exciting prizes. To top it up, all our Malengo Savings account holders will be winners, as they are all guaranteed to get up to 7% interest on their savings”, said Musa.

He also added that NBC has decided to launch this campaign to thank and reward our customers for their support and further encouraged them to continue saving with NBC for their own prosperity. This campaign is in line with the bank’s purpose of helping people achieve their ambitions in the right way. Last year NBC managed to change lives of six Tanzanian in the first edition of the NBC Weka Upewe campaign launched in October 2013.

“We changed the lives of our six customers who participated and won different prizes in a similar campaign last year. We are pleased with the success our customers have accomplished during the last campaign, and we are confident that they will use this campaign again to improve their savings and hence improve their financial security. Importantly, apart from winning prizes, our customers will benefit from the increased interest rates as well.” added Musa

This is the third time that NBC is launching such mega campaigns. In 2012 NBC launched a campaign dubbed “Dabo Mshiko wako na NBC”. In 2013, the first edition of “Weka Upewe” campaign was launched with celebrated success. This campaign, aims not only at encouraging a savings culture among NBC customers, but also seeks to thank and reward NBC customers for their business.
