Mradi huo una uwezo wa kuhudumia watu zaidi ya 2,000 ambapo ufadhili umefanyika kwa kwa ushirikiano kati ya SBL na Water Aid kwa kujenga kisima na mfumo wake, pampu, tanki la maji na mtandao wa usambazaji maji.
Akizungumza katika uzinduzi huo, Mkurugenzi Mtendaji wa SBL, Mark Ocitti alieleza kuwa mradi huo upo chini ya program yao iitwayo, Water of Life ambapo juhudi za ujenzi wa visima vya maji safi na salama ushafanyika katika mikoa ya Mara, Iringa, Kilimanjaro, Mwanza, Tanga, Manyara Ruvuma, Dar es Salaam, Pwani na Dodoma.
Mark alisema kuwa mradi huo utalinda afya za wakazi wa Itigi na kuwa chachu ya maendeleo yao ya kiuchumi hasa kwa wanawake ambao hawalazimishwa kusafiri tena umbali mrefu na kwa masaa mengi kutafuta maji safi.
"SBL ina dhamira ya kisera kuleta ustawi wa jamii yetu, na tumechagua maji safi na salama kama moja ya maeneo manne ya kipaumbele ambayo kampuni yetu imeainisha katika lengo lake la kutoa msaada kwa kijamii tunayoihudumia," alisema Mark.
Mkurugenzi Mtendaji pia alielezea maeneo mengine ambayo SBL imekuwa na mafanikio makubwa, kama vile utoaji wa ufadhili wa masomo ya kilimo kupitia Kilimo Viwanda ambao umefadhili wanafunzi zaidi ya 200 tangu 2019, na kampeni ya unywaji kistaarabu ambayo imeelimisha maelfu ya madereva dhidi ya kunywa pombe na kuendesha gari kwa kunywa kupitia kampeni mbalimbali.
Mkurugenzi Mtendaji pia alielezea maeneo mengine ambayo SBL imekuwa na mafanikio makubwa, kama vile utoaji wa ufadhili wa masomo ya kilimo kupitia Kilimo Viwanda ambao umefadhili wanafunzi zaidi ya 200 tangu 2019, na kampeni ya unywaji kistaarabu ambayo imeelimisha maelfu ya madereva dhidi ya kunywa pombe na kuendesha gari kwa kunywa kupitia kampeni mbalimbali.
Mgeni rasmi katika hafla hiyo Mkuu wa Mkoa wa Singida Mhe. Peter Serukamba, aliishukuru SBL kwa kutoa msaada huo na kusema kuwa SBL imekuwa mstari wa mbele katika kukuza miradi ya maendeleo nchini inayojenga jamii yenye afya na tija.
“Mradi huo utaongeza juhudi za Serikali chini ya Mpango wa Maendeleo ya Sekta ya Maji (WSDP 2025, unaolenga kuhakikisha asilimia 100 ya Watanzania wanapata maji safi na salama na kuboresha huduma za usafi wa mazingira,” alisema.
Mkurugenzi wa shirika la Water Aid nchini Anna Mzinga alisema shirika lake linajivunia kushirikiana na SBL katika kuhakikisha kuwa maji safi na salama yanapatikana kwa watanzania hasa wale waishio maeneo ya pembezoni na wasio na uwezo wa kupata mahitaji hayo muhimu.
“Ushirikiano kati ya WaterAid na SBL umeanza toka Januari 2019, na tangu wakati huo tumeweza kufanya kazi pamoja katika miradi kadhaa ambayo imeleta mabadiliko kwa maelfu ya Watanzania wenye uhitaji wa maji safi na salama katika maeneo mbalimbali nchini,” alisema.
