NMB BANK HOSTS IFTAR EVENT FOR MUSLIM COMMUNITY IN ZANZIBAR


The Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar (SMZ) has commended NMB Bank for contributing to community development, including humanitarian aid to needy people, including orphans and vulnerable children.



Speaking during an Iftar event organized by NMB for customers and various people, including orphans and vulnerable children, the Zanzibar House of Representatives (BLW) Speaker, Mr. Zubeir Ali Maulid, said the bank's contribution to the community is one of the secrets of its success in the country's financial sector.



Speaker Maulid, who was representing the Second Vice President of Zanzibar, Mr. Hemed Suleiman Abdulla, told more than 600 participants from various community groups including religious and Government officials that NMB's participation in social development is among the bank’s success secrets in National and International awards, including the Best Taxpayer for the Year 2024.



The Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar recognizes and appreciates NMB Bank's contribution to various groups ranging from entrepreneurs, its customers, orphans and the; actually, this is one of the Bank’s great success secrets,” said Speaker Maulid



The House of Representatives leader said; “We wish to see other stakeholders coming forward to follow in the footsteps of NMB in supporting needy children in the country, this will not only bring joy, but also remind others of their responsibility in helping each other.



More than 180 children from Kidundo Orphanage Center and Muftuh Foundation centers, both in Zanzibar attended the Iftar event held in Unguja on Wednesday, 12 March 2025.



This is a continuation of the Iftar events organized by NMB every year for various social groups including customers and people in need.



Speaker Maulid asked the NMB leadership to continue maintaining this tradition, promising that SMZ will continue to collaborate with the bank in community development activities.



Speaking on behalf of the NMB Bank Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Ms. Ruth Zaipuna, NMB's Chief Financial Officer, Mr. Juma Kimori, thanked SMZ for its cooperation and promised the Bank’s participation in various community development projects.


By participating in social activities, we live our motto of ‘Karibu Yako’ in the real sense; good relationships with customers and various stakeholders have been the foundation of our success, and that is why we are using this month to meet various social groups while reminding each other of the importance of doing good,” said Mr. Kimori during the Iftar event attended by more than 600 guests

As we did in Dar es Salaam, NMB will continue to support various children centers throughout the Ramadan period and here today we have food assistance that we will hand over to you, and you hand it over to them,” added Mr. Kimori.

In their remarks, the guardian of Kidundo Orphanage Center, Mr. Khalid Idd and Idrisa Juma Kombo from Muftuh Foundation Center thanked NMB not only for inviting them to the Iftar event but also for their commitment to supporting the needs and services of the children in their centers throughout the Ramadan period.

For us as Kidundo Orphanage Center, this is not the first time that NMB has reached out to us, that is why as we thank and congratulate them for caring and helping to solve our challenges, we see the need for other institutions to follow in NMB’s footsteps in looking after these children with compassion,” said Khalid Idd Haji of Kidundo, who is taking care of 30 children.

A similar statement was also made by Kombo of Muftuh Foundation Center, saying: “We thank NMB for providing us with foodstuffs, but also for the great charity it has given, including the promise to serve us throughout the Ramadan period. Our center is facing many challenges, that is why we are happy to receive this support and ask other institutions to follow in NMB footsteps in helping the needy.”
