28 November 2019 – In a fit unmatched by other banks in Tanzania, the Financial Times publication ‘The Banker magazine’ has named CRDB Bank Tanzania as the winner of the “Bank of the Year - Tanzania” award for the year 2019, during a gala dinner held at the Sheraton Grand Park Lane, London, UK. This prestigious award aims to reward and promote industry wide excellence in the global banking community.
This recognition is a reflection of the substantial strides the Bank has taken to improve growth and performance, deliver excellent customer service and embrace digital disruption to drive financial inclusion. The Awards’ judging Panel, which is composed of The Banker's editors, has specifically selected CRDB Bank due to its continued success across all key business metrics over the past year.
“We are particularly proud of this award. This is a recognition that we are on the right path to providing our customers with a differentiated experience and creating value for our shareholders,” said Abdulmajid Nsekela, CRDB Bank Group Chief Executive Officer.
"We have revamped our service delivery processes and procedures to provide our customers with exciting experience both on our retail and wholesale business fronts, expanded our product base and strengthened our footprint by expanding our agent banking 'CRDB Wakala' to better serve our customers," he added.
CRDB Bank's digital transformation drive, widely recognized as one of the most comprehensive for a bank, continued to reap impressive results. The Bank recorded a net profit of TZS 92.16 billion from its operations for the year ending September 2019, a jump of 76% compared to TZS 52.25 billion recorded in the same period in 2018.
The CEO concluded, “this well-earned global recognition presents a timely boost to our employees, who have worked tirelessly to get us ahead of the curve by ensuring they give the best customer experience in all fronts of our businesses across Tanzania and Burundi.”
The ceremony was attended by around 300 CEOs and C-Suite executives from around the globe.
