NMB OPENS NEW BRANCH IN MWANZA

The National Microfinance Bank (NMB) Bank has opened a new branch in Mwanza City as it eyes reaching 200 branches by end of this year up from over 170 branches it now possesses countrywide.

The opening of the new branch was witnessed by the Mwanza Regional Commissioner, Mr John Mongela, among other dignitaries including members from the business community who challenged the bank to introduce more packages and bring the services closer to the growing populations.

“NMB has always remained potential partner with the government and has demonstrated that potential by offering best services ever.

We hope the new branch housed at our modern shopping mall will add more value to the ongoing innovations,” said the RC. He also thanked the bank for the Corporate and Social Responsibility (CSR) commitments to the community that has increased many beneficiaries in different aspects.

The bank’s Managing Director, Ms Ineke Bussemaker, said NMB has kept on introducing more products to its customers mentioning the most recent ones as the Wajibu Account that includes packages for the infants, primary school, secondary and university students.

She said the new products encourage parents and guardians to cultivate a culture of saving for their children. Acting Chief, Retail Banking Mr Abdul Majid Nsekela said in Wajibu Account there was an interesting package where a student will be making transactions with the bank and a feedback goes straight to the parent for notification.

The arrangement, he said, was designed to put parents aware on the financial expenditures and related disciplines of their children but also to ensure financial inclusion of the young members of the population.

Meanwhile, the bank donated 660 desks valued at 35m/- to five primary and two secondary schools in Kasulu District, Kigoma Region in a bid to reduce shortage of desks.

NMB Chief Operating Officer Mr Pete Novat said at the handing over event that the bank has set aside one per cent of its profit to support education, health, financial, literacy and natural disaster recovery.

“NMB has always given priority to community projects development, this is why it has contributed 660 desks to schools in Kasulu Districts,” he said. He added, the donation of desks is one of the bank’s priorities in improving society’s living standards basing on the profit generated. He said in 2016, the bank has set aside 1.5bn/- for community development.

NMB has contributed 6,000 desks to primary and secondary schools and in July the bank handed over 900m/- to Regional Administration and Local Government Ministry for making 10,000 desks.

On his part, Kigoma Administrative Officer Mr Titus Mguha said the bank’s donation has come at the right time and will help reduce the acute shortage of desks in the district.
