TANZANIA SHILLING DEPRECIATION AGAINST THE DOLLAR PUSHES UP PETROL PRICES


The price changes in the world market and the shilling depreciation against the dollar, has pushed up the retail and wholesale prices of petrol and kerosene.
According to the Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority, Petrol retail cap price increased by 0.44 percent to Tshs 2,210 per litre in Dar es Salaam and while that of kerosene rose by 0.9 per cent to Tshs 2,046.
Diesel will be sold up to shs 2,125 this month per litre being a 0.73 percent drop compared with the previous months.
“Oil marketing companies are free to sell their products at a price that gives them competitive advantage provided that such price does not exceed the price cap for the relevant product,” said Ewura.
