KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is celebrating 45 years of contribution to the tourism industry in Tanzania. The airline was the only international airline carrying foreign tourists to Tanzania, and it has made a remarkable contribution to tourism growth.
Tanzania hosts an average of one million foreign tourists annually.
According to a KLM statement, two airports in Tanzania enjoy the company’s flights. Tanzania is the only country in East Africa to have such a number of KLM flights.
It offers daily flights to Dar es Salaam and Kilimanjaro, flying time 8.5 hours non-stop to Kilimanjaro Airport. The airliner arrives two hours later in Dar es Salaam. The airline operates an Airbus 330-300 state-of-the-art aircraft.
“KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is marking 45 years since inauguration of its weekly flights to Dar es Salaam in 1969 with McDonnell Douglas DC-8 equipment. KLM has successfully managed to spread its wings to Kilimanjaro for its Tanzanian network, making Tanzania the only country in Eastern Africa to which KLM operates flights to two areas: Dar es Salaam and Kilimanjaro,” reads part of the statement.
KLM which also celebrates 95 years of operating globally is determined to serve customers better.
“This will also be a moment to evaluate KLM’s performance, current milestones and challenges and a preview into the future plans and programs for the airline and the industry at large,” the statement reads.
