AIRTEL EXPANDS NETWORK COVERAGE WITH FIVE NEW COMMUNICATION TOWERS ACROSS TANZANIA

Dar es Salaam, December 22, 2025 — Airtel Tanzania has continued to strengthen its footprint across the country by officially launching five new communication towers in the regions of Kigoma, Singida, Kilimanjaro, Geita, and Morogoro. The initiative is part of the company’s ongoing strategy to expand network coverage and improve access to reliable communication services for Tanzanians in both urban and rural areas.

Speaking during the launch in Kigoma, the Regional Manager, Mr. Issack Kijuu, noted that residents in some villages had long struggled to communicate with their relatives due to weak or completely unavailable network signals, particularly in low-lying areas.

There have been times when villagers could not communicate at all. The construction of this tower is a major relief, and we sincerely appreciate Airtel for bringing this vital infrastructure to our community,” he said.

Boosting Connectivity in Central and Lake Zones

Addressing residents in Singida, the Central Zone Airtel Marketing Manager, Mr. Salum Ngururu, emphasized the importance of communication in driving social and economic development.

We all recognize how essential communication is in our society. Airtel has therefore decided to expand its coverage to reach our brothers and sisters here in Singida. This tower will enable access to Airtel services such as voice calls, mobile money transactions, and high-speed 4G and 5G internet,” he explained.

In the Lake Zone, Airtel Manager Mr. Joseph Mushi told residents of Nyarututu Village in Bwanga Ward, Geita Region, that growing demand for communication—driven largely by digital transformation—has compelled Airtel to invest in areas that previously lacked reliable communication infrastructure.

As digital growth continues, Airtel is expanding its network to underserved areas, just as we have done here in Geita, to ensure communities are not left behind,” he said.

Opening Economic Opportunities

The newly launched towers are expected to unlock significant economic opportunities for youth, women, and small-scale entrepreneurs, particularly in regions that are strongholds for livestock keeping and agriculture. Improved connectivity will help link producers with buyers, markets, and financial services, enhancing productivity and trade along the value chain.

Airtel Targets 200 New Towers Nationwide

Meanwhile, speaking in Morogoro, the Zone Sales Manager, Mr. John Tungaraza, reaffirmed Airtel’s long-term commitment to nationwide digital inclusion.

Airtel remains committed to building more towers, even in hard-to-reach areas, so that digital growth leaves no one behind. This season alone, we plan to launch approximately 200 towers across various wards in every region of the country, bringing our services closer to customers,” he said.

Promotional Offer for Local Communities

To mark the launch, Airtel introduced a special three-day promotional offer for residents within the newly connected areas. Customers received 50 minutes of calls to all networks, 500MB of internet data, and 50 SMSs, as a gesture of appreciation to the communities.
