DAR ES SALAAM, Tanzania; August 14, 2026 — DCB Commercial Bank Plc has strengthened its Board of Directors with the appointment of two highly experienced leaders, Dr. Charles Stephen Kimei as the new Chairman of the Board and Mr. Gilead John Teri as a new Board member.
The appointments bring together extensive expertise in banking, financial policy, investment, economic development, regulation, institutional transformation and corporate governance, reinforcing DCB Commercial Bank’s strategic focus on transformation, innovation and sustainable growth.
DR. CHARLES KIMEI APPOINTED BOARD CHAIRMAN
Dr. Charles Stephen Kimei is one of Tanzania’s most distinguished banking and financial sector leaders, with more than four decades of experience spanning banking, financial policy, regulation, economic research and corporate governance.
He began his career at the Bank of Tanzania, where he held senior positions including Director of Banking Supervision and Director of Economic Research and Policy.
Dr. Kimei later served as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of CRDB Bank Plc, where his leadership is widely recognised as having played a significant role in transforming the institution from a cooperative banking entity into a successful and competitive commercial bank and one of Tanzania’s leading banks.
Beyond his executive leadership roles, Dr. Kimei has held several influential board and leadership positions, including with the Tanzania Bankers Association, Swissport Tanzania Plc, the Economic and Social Research Foundation, the University of Dar es Salaam Council and the Tanzania Education Authority.
His contribution to Tanzania’s banking and financial sector has earned him numerous recognitions, including the East Africa Banker Lifetime Achievement Award in 2016.
With his extensive experience in institutional transformation, deep understanding of banking and financial markets, regulatory expertise and strong corporate governance credentials, Dr. Kimei brings significant value to DCB Commercial Bank at an important stage of the institution’s development.

GILEAD TERI JOINS DCB BOARD
DCB Commercial Bank has also welcomed Mr. Gilead John Teri as a new member of its Board of Directors.
Mr. Teri brings extensive experience in investment, private sector development, economic policy, international development and institutional transformation. Throughout his career, he has worked with leading national and international institutions, including the World Bank, International Finance Corporation (IFC), European Union and Tanzania Private Sector Foundation (TPSF).
He has played a prominent role in Tanzania’s investment ecosystem, having served as Executive Director of the Tanzania Investment Centre (TIC) and subsequently as the first Director General of the Tanzania Investment and Special Economic Zones Authority (TISEZA).
In these roles, Mr. Teri was involved in promoting and facilitating investment, strengthening Tanzania’s investment environment and connecting investors with opportunities across the country.
His extensive engagement with domestic and international investors, government institutions and development partners gives him valuable insight into the challenges and opportunities facing businesses seeking capital, investment and sustainable growth.
