Dar es Salaam, 22 October 2025 – Absa Bank Tanzania has launched a Business Banking Walking Club, an innovative initiative designed to strengthen relationships between the bank and its clients while promoting the importance of physical fitness and overall well-being.

The launch event, held in Dar es Salaam, brought together staff from Absa’s Business Banking Department and several of their clients for an energizing morning walk and short run. The club will organize walks twice a month, combining networking, wellness, and team-building in an informal outdoor setting.

Speaking during the launch, Absa Bank Tanzania Head of Business Banking, Mr. Melvin Saprapasen, said the Walking Club reflects the bank’s commitment to fostering meaningful engagement with clients beyond the boardroom. “Our aim is to build stronger relationships while encouraging a healthy lifestyle that supports both body and mind,” he noted.

He was joined by Absa Tanzania Director of Financial Markets, Ms. Irene Rwegalulira, who emphasized the importance of work-life balance and the benefits of regular physical exercise for productivity and mental wellness.

Leading the walk was Absa Bank Tanzania Citizenship and Events Manager, Ms. Abigail Lukuvi, who highlighted that the initiative aligns with Absa’s citizenship agenda focused on promoting holistic well-being within the community. “This club is not only about fitness; it’s about connecting, sharing ideas, and nurturing partnerships in a refreshing way,”she said.

The Walking Club will continue to bring together Absa’s staff and clients twice a month for wellness activities that blend relationship-building with healthy living.

After the walk, participants gathered for a group photo to mark the successful launch of the club — a symbol of Absa’s dynamic approach to customer engagement and its ongoing dedication to supporting both financial and personal growth among its clients.
