THE WORLD'S FERTILIZER COMMUNITY COMES TO TANZANIA


Over 300 international fertilizer and agribusiness executives and regional government representatives are expected in Dar es Salaam next week (10 -12 October) for the inaugural Africa Fertilizer Agribusiness conference. The event is a unique opportunity to meet and network with the key decision-makers that are opening up the African market for fertilizer trade.

Delegates will benefit from three days of dedicated networking opportunities and a comprehensive programme of over 50 high level speakers and moderators that will cover key market trends, project updates and supply and demand forecasts. Drawing on CRU’s technical event experience, the Africa Fertilizer Agribusiness conference will also feature an extensive exhibition of the world’s cutting edge fertilizer and agribusiness technologies and services.

Co-hosted by the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania, the conference will be opened by Dr Charles Tizeba, Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Tanzania and closed by Charles Mwijage, Minister for Industry, Trade and Investment, Tanzania. The Africa Fertilizer Agribusiness Conference, being held 10-12 October at the Hyatt Regency Dar es Salaam is collaboration between CRU and The African Fertilizer and Agribusiness Partnership (AFAP).

“Due to this unique partnership, we can offer unrivalled networking opportunities with senior decision makers from the biggest fertilizer buyers and manufacturers in some of the world’s fastest growing fertilizer markets,” said Nicola Coslett, CEO Events at CRU. “The event will focus on the role of fertilizers within African agribusiness and how the African agricultural industry can work with international partners to strengthen and improve its agricultural output,” she continued.

The organisers brought the conference to Dar es Salaam as it is a key hub for regional fertilizer and agribusiness trade. Attendees will also have the chance to join a tour of ETG’s Mbagala facility, which provides service for fertilizer importers and exporters to Tanzania and its neighbouring countries.

The African Fertilizer and Agribusiness Partnership (AFAP) is an NGO that works with private businesses to establish more competitive and sustainable fertilizer markets in Africa and to contribute to an African Green Revolution. Using an innovative partnership contract, AFAP joins industry and development interests to inspire productivity, food security and prosperity in Africa. AFAP has two main goals for the countries in which it works. They are:

• Increase the number of fertilizer users by 15 percent;

• At least double total fertilizer use.
