TANZANIA BREWERIES GROUP WIN INTERNATIONAL AWARD


Tanzania Breweries Limited (TBL) Group plants have scooped International beer awards with Safari Lager produced by the Dar es Salaam and Arusha plants emerging the best beer in Africa.

TBL Group Technical Director Mr Gavin Van Wijk hailed the plants management for scooping various awards including the Supply Chain and planning award. “The competition was stiff as it involved a number of brewing plants from various parts of Africa; it’s nice to see that Tanzania plants have emerged winners,” he said.

The plants located in Dar es Salaam, Mbeya, Mwanza and Arusha received the awards from SABMiller Africa and Safari lager was named a Champion beer. The award announcement ceremony dubbed SABMiller Africa Technical Awards was held in South Africa at the weekend and was attended by company senior officials including plants managers from its subsidiary companies.

He added, “This show the company commitment which goes in line with government move to turn the country into industrial economy and all these successes have been brought by Tanzanians,” he said.

He expressed appreciation to all loyal customers who have been supporting the company by making the TBL Group products their number one choice. He said the company would continue to give its best to the customers including introducing social projects that will bring positive changes to the communities. TBL Group mother company SABMiller has annual competition for its plants located in various parts of the world and one of the winning criteria is quality of the products produced.

Safari lager beer produced by Dar es Salaam and Arusha plants was named the best beer in Africa and it was awarded. Dar plant ranked the first and Arusha the second. Other awards that TBL Group plants scooped include the best producer for Castle lager beer and received Mick Steward Castle Lager award where Dar plant ranked number one, Mbeya number two and Arusha number three.

The group also received Brewery of the Year Award where Mbeya plant emerged number one and Mwanza plant emerged number two. It also scooped Supply Chain and planning award Speaking on behalf of TBL Group managers, Dar es Salaam plant Calvin Martin said he was delighted to see Tanzania plants emerging winners and get international recognition. “

The awards we have scooped today are a result of team work spirit that TBL Group employees have. I also would like to express my gratitude for our customers who have always retain trust on us,” he said.

Meanwhile, Tanzanian Engineer Richmond Raymond who was plant Manager for TBL Mwanza but now working as Plant Manager for SABMiller Polokwane plant in South Africa, received a special award for his contribution to the company known as SABMiller Brewery Legend status.
