SERENGETI BREWERIES: KIBO GOLD LAGER BAGS A GOLD AWARD AT THE MONDE SELECTION

“Kibo Gold lager”  manufactured by Serengeti Breweries Company Ltd won a  gold medal at the prestigious Monde Selection-world selection of quality. Kibo received this quality recognition during the 53rd annual awards ceremony in Bordeaux, France.

Monde Selection is an annual non-competitive award open to food and drink products, created in 1961. It is run by the commercial company, International Institute for Quality Selections, Brussels, Belgium. Consumer products are tasted and tested in order to grant them a quality label.

Speaking after receiving the award, SBL’s Managing director Mr Steve Ganon said…“As SBL family, we are indeed very privileged to hear this great news befitting our great brand,  something like this doesn’t just happen; we make it real happen ... I therefore commend the entire SBL team for their efforts in building trust to our consumers.” 

Kibo Gold Lager was launched under Kibo Breweries 15 years ago. Unfortunately the product did not stay long in the market as a result of the shutdown of Kibo Breweries. The brand was acquired by Serengeti Breweries ltd and re-launched on June 2012 at SBL’s Moshi Brewery where its wide distribution is throughout the northern part of Tanzania in the regions of Kilimanjaro, Arusha, Tanga and Manyara, among others.

Kibo God lager’s aim is to target   urban male as to expand Serengeti Breweries Ltd portfolio of drinks and effectively tap into the middle class consumers in the northern region in this market.

In August 2013 Kibo Gold was modified into a long neck bottle so as to ensure the product caters for the dynamic and progressive modern drinker who would want to drink a lager in a modern premium long neck bottle.  

 Kibo comes in a 500ml longneck returnable amber glass bottle, with 5.5 % ABV and 6 months shelf life.  Kibo’s key wording is “ Yaone maisha katika mwanga bora.”

Kibo Gold lager is now sold at Tshs 1800 at retail.
